A familiar face is taking on a new role. Kenny Butler, one of our most experienced Offshore Engineers, has joined our Sales & Technical team as Account Manager.
With 15 years at LGH Winches and extensive experience on and offshore, Kenny brings in-depth product knowledge and a practical understanding of customer needs, supporting with equipment enquiries, projects and technical support.
We sat down with Kenny for a Q&A to find out more.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO JOIN LGH AND TAKE UP THE BDM ROLE?
I’ve been with the company for 15 years, including my time with Rotrex before the merger. When the BDM role became available, it felt like a natural next step. Over the years I’ve built up a strong knowledge of the equipment and developed relationships with many of our customers, so it was an opportunity to put that experience to good use in a new way.
WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR?
It’s hard to pick out just one achievement. I’ve been fortunate to work on a wide range of projects, both in the UK and offshore, and each one has brought its own challenges. Some standout projects include replacing the slipway winches for Cory in Gravesend and helping rebuild a Single Point Mooring buoy in Nigeria. What I’ve always enjoyed most is finding practical solutions to complex problems, especially when working in remote or demanding environments.

WHAT INDUSTRIES HAVE YOU WORKED IN?
Before joining Rotrex, I worked in a variety of industries including plant, haulage and demolition, mainly as a fitter. I also spent time as a contract haulier for a building products company, which gave me a good understanding of customer requirements and the challenges faced on site.
WHAT EXPERIENCE ARE YOU BRINGING TO THE ROLE?
As a LEEA-registered technician, I’ve gained extensive hands-on experience throughout my career. My background includes service and repair work, offshore operations, special projects and operating LGH Winches equipment on site. Having spent many years working directly with the equipment and supporting customers, I understand both the technical and practical aspects of the industry.
WHAT ARE YOUR SHORT-TERM PLANS IN YOUR NEW ROLE?
One of my main priorities is to personally introduce myself to as many existing customers as possible. I think it’s important that people can put a face to a name, and building strong relationships starts with good communication. I want customers to know who they can contact and feel confident that they’re getting the support they need.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST?
It might sound a bit cliché, but I’m looking forward to the challenge. This is a different role for me, and I’m excited to use the experience I’ve built up over the years to help customers while continuing to learn and develop myself.
